R E M A R K S to the Restoration Procedure: ************************************************************************** o A "Problematic Part" ( see >>> above !) was discovered later: The SPRING in this "Locking-Control-Unit" was flipped out and this resulted in RANDOM BLOCKING of CRANK and/or CARRIAGE o The axle of the INPUT DISPLAY was lubricated (?) with motor oil. This tar-like substance was aggressive and expanded the plastic of the display wheels: It was a long procedure to separate wheels and axle - and all hubs needed special care with a needle file ... o The CRANK BLOCKING had three more reasons: (a) COUNTER DELETE was incorrectly assembled (b) SPRING in CRANK HANDLE was broken, LOCKING BOLT FORCE too low (c) FRICTION in the CARRIER SHIFT LOCK (bottom) was too high ... o RUBBER FEET were decayed; new ones were made out of TUB STOPPERS; ( Their LOCKING MECHANISM is now made out of PAPER CLIPS ) o Many FIGURES needed restoration with a super-fine black marker ... (!) REMOVING THE CARRIAGE: ( Make sure, that the transport-lock-screw is released !) (a) Reset all registers (b) Remove the right lock-block on the bottom of the carrier ( remove 2 screws and lift it out of its 3rd anchor ) (c) Shift the carrier to the left side ( push/pull Levers [9]&[5] to pass ...) (!) Removing the right and left covers of the carriage: ( Careful because of falling out springs & Tooth-Wheels !!! ) DETAIL PICTURES for the CORRECT SYNCHRONIZATION ... LEFT & RIGHT Side of the Carriage ( Held by a vice !) Observe ORIENTATION of the VISIBLE AXLE-SLOTS !!! On BOTH AXLES the GEARs with SPRING are equal and to pull/fall(!)-out ... ... FRONT & BACK of the GEARs: The Back-Side-STUD has to fit into a GAP (= opposit of the AXLE-SLOT !) RE-ASSEMBLING ... (a) The LEFT STAR-WHEEL ( see >>>> !) has 2 "Wings" ... Before sliding in the carriage, make sure, that the "Multiple-Gear-Unit" has the right position: I marked it with [#] [#] WHITE DOTS on Wall & PIN (b) Make sure, that the "Bell-Trigger" ( see <<<< !) is pushed in! 06/26/2019 NEW PROBLEMS ... impressum: ************************************************************************** © C.HAMANN http://public.BHT-Berlin.de/hamann 07/08/07 |
