In 1959 the DIAL Model »PRINCESS« was introduced by BELL SYSTEM.

Have a look at the TOUCH TONE VERSION ...

It was designed to fit on a bedside table. It has a NIGHT LIGHT
FEATURE ( illuminated dial ), but the 6.3 V light bulb requires
an EXTERNAL TRANSFORMER, plugged into an outlet. There is an
ON/OFF switch for the lamp on the back side and the ringer volume
can be dimmed with a switch on the bottom side.

The LIGHT-BULB sits in a HOLDER and is accessable from the bottom
by the turn of a penny ...

In the center of the rotary dial was a two-sided label found ...

      Its back side reads : NEptune 2- / 6659
      Its front side reads : Area Code: / 415 / 632 6659

... updated to the "new" area code system of 415 = SanFrancisco

The LETTERS ON THE DIALER are for MEMORIZING TELEPHONE NUMBERS ...
