HISTORICAL REMARKS:
********************************************************************
Frank Rose was inventor of the foldable portable typewriter in 1904.
Unfortunately he died before it went into production. His son George
took his father's patent and founded in 1907 the ROSE TYPEWRITER CO.
The » STANDARD FOLDABLE TYPEWRITER « came unpainted(!) in aluminum
& steel and was an instant success: Because of its small size and
light weight THAT was it for journalists and news correspondents.

In 1912 the company was renamed »CORONA« and the black painted
» CORONA 3 « continued its success and was the root of one of the
most successful typewriter companies in the world: SMITH-CORONA.

In 1920 shift keys were added on the right side and the carriage was
extended 1 inch. The price was constant $ 50 over the years. Until
1940 ca. 700,000 machines were sold.
