CLEAR THE ARITHMETIC UNIT:
--------------------------
Only when the right vertical lever on front is on (+) ADDITION,
the arithmetic unit can be cleared: Turn the little crank on the
right side clockwise one rotation.

ENTER A NUMBER:
---------------
Use the index-finger and pull-down the appropriate number.
Depending of the right vertical lever on front, the input is (+)
ADDED or (-) SUBTRACTED. The result is visible in the arithmetic
unit behind the window.

INPUT CHECK:
------------
When the black knob on the left side is set counter-clockwise,
the input wheels will stay and show the number entered (for
checking or printing). Before entering a new number, press the
key right on front to release the input wheels.
If the black knob on the left side is set clockwise, the release
key on the right side is locked down and each input wheel snaps
back immediately after entering a number.

NEGATIVE RESULTS:
-----------------
Negative results are displayed in the arithmetic unit as the
COMPLEMENT of the next higher 10, 100, 1000, ...

Example: -12 = 9...988

PRINTING THE INPUT:
-------------------
Only the number staying in the input device (see INPUT CHECK)
can be printed. Pull the big right lever down: The number will
be printed either in BLACK or RED (depending on the +/- state).
The input wheels snap back after printing.

PRINTING THE TOTAL:
-------------------
Since only the number staying in the input device can be printed,
it is necessary to RE-ENTER THE TOTAL WITH A TRICK:
Set the lever to (-) SUBTRACTION. Enter each figure of the result
(seen behind the window) into the input wheels: The arithmetic
unit will become 00...00 and the number is ready to be printed...
Turn the lever back to (+) ADDITION to print the result in BLACK.

CHANGING THE PAPER ROLL:
************************
o Pull out the axle.
o Lift the paper feeder and pull out the paper.
o Put in the new paper roll so that the paper end comes from
   the bottom; replace the axle.
o Lift the paper feeder and push the paper end into the rear
slot until it can be seen in the front.
o Feed the paper and adjust it.
o Tighten the paper roll.

CHANGING THE RIBBON:
********************
o Remove the covers.
o Observe how the ribbon is spooled:
RED = DOWN, BLACK = INSIDE ON BOTH SIDES !!!
      LEFT = clockwise,  RIGHT = counter-clockwise spooled !!!
o Change the ribbon.
o Replace the covers.

When AXLE is SHIFTED RIGHT:
LEFT SPOOL is ACTIVE, the RIGHT SPOOL is PASSIVE !!!
When AXLE is SHIFTED LEFT:
LEFT SPOOL is PASSIVE, the RIGHT SPOOL is ACTIVE !!!

LEFT RIBBON-COVER was missing. Made one out of a SHEET-METAL STRIP.

(2nd)
The aged P R I N T - C Y L I N D E R was hardened & shrunken,
resulted in (a) faded printing, and (b) bad paper-transportation.

 - Punch-out the LEFT PIN holding the LEFT KNOB on its axle
 - Pull-out the AXLE - Observe the SLIT on the right side !!!
( Also the CYLINDER HAS 2 SLITs for passing the PIN ON AXLE !!! )
 - Remove the ACRYLIC COVER - Remove the CYLINDER ...
 - Make sure the SPRINGS of the PAPER-FEEDER are in place ...

 - When R E - A S S E M B L I N G :
Make sure the PIN ON AXLE fits in the LEFT SLOT OF THE CYLINDER !
