Inside the plastic cover the molded-in  PRODUCTION DATE is ( / 78),
&  there are two  REFURBISH  Paper-Stickers glued on its back side:

This  MINI WALL PHONE  with its chrome-plated metal hang-up bracket
was the compliment of the 2500 touch-tone desk set model and one of
last quality models made by WE  -  before the cheap plastic "wave".

REMARK TO RESTORATION:

The » 2554 BMP «  has the same keyboard as the  "Red Telephone" ...

If you got a  touch tone telephone  and all is working well ( bell,
communication )  except the KEYBOARD doesn't react,  than TRY THIS:
The keyboard is  sensitive to the polarity  of the incomming wires. 
Exchange the wires ( RED, GREEN ) either in the  outlet, or in the
telephone, or use a  "crossed" cable  between telephone & outlet...

The LETTERS ON THE DIALER are for  MEMORIZING TELEPHONE NUMBERS ...
