A partially evacuated corrugated metal box is prevented from collapsing
by a spring.  The volume of the box  is variating due to the difference
between  inside pressure  and  outside  air-pressure.  This movement is
amplified by levers, activating a string to rotate the pointer on dial.

This beautiful "Eyes Catcher" was not working: The pointer-axle touched
the center-hole in the dial - Due to shrunken wooden wedges, supporting
the mechanic-unit (s. Zoom Inside !) on the baseboard.
