This beautiful brass/bakalite telephone has no build-in ringer.  The
ringer  was a seperate device in old times.  To use the telephone as
"back-up" (eg. when power is off), a  RINGER/WARBLER...  is added.

The LETTERS ON THE DIALER are for  MEMORIZING TELEPHONE NUMBERS ...
